English section was established in 1991 with the purpose of preparing highly qualified distinctive students, through an educational package that is provided and taught by highly qualified academic staff equipped with advanced facilities including computers & language laps, audiovisual facilities, latest editions of internationally recognized and widely used English textbooks and open minded discussions related to the business environment, so that students can gain the necessary technical knowledge and intellectual skills required to meet the national and regional standards of excellence.
In March 2004 the English section program became internationally recognized after being judged and approved as satisfactory academic standards by external reviewers within the project of "Enhancement of quality and institutional planning at Arab Universities which is sponsored and funded by the Bureau for Arab states of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP/RBAS).
Applicants for English section should provide a certificate showing the completion of the high school or its equivalents (whether the major is Science, Math or Arts) with a minimum GPA ranges between 92-94%. They should also have a minimum of 80% of total English language course, or grade B in English language for IGCSE and the American Diploma Students.
The total no. of students of English section is estimated to be 1050 including the non Egyptians. They are going to be distributed between Cairo University campus and the new campus in El Shaikh Zayed.
FCES has competitive fees relative to other business colleges which are paid just to guarantee and maintain the high quality educational services.
FCES programs are studied in 4 years with specialization in the 4th year in one of 3 main majors (Accounting, Business Administration, and Insurance) and in the 2nd year in the Actuarial science major. All programs aim at facilitating the development of relevant skills to include analytical, critical thinking, problem solving and other technical knowledge sufficient to pursue a variety of career opportunities in business.
Accounting Major provides the students with the conceptual and practical accounting experience and knowledge that is needed by nearly most of business organizations in the world in the accounting and auditing specializations.
Business Administration major
Business Administration major provides students with a thorough understanding of conceptual and practical aspects of business environment including managerial skills, strategic management and the operational role of business organizations in relation to the broader economic and social environment. Business Administration courses let students think differently and it opens the door for countless working opportunities in many different fields in the market.
Insurance major provides the students with the mathematical and insurance courses that help them to develop the necessary skills required in such competitive and tight industry. Insurance graduates are uniquely required by most reputable insurance companies in Egypt and Middle East.
Actuarial science major starts in the second year and provides the students with variety of mathematical, statistics and finance courses in their three years of specialization to prepare them to work as actuarial experts in the insurance companies and other institutions. Courses are set and exams are reviewed by the institute of actuaries in London according to the protocol signed between the department of actuarial sciences and statistics of City University in London, Egyptian federation (Institute of actuaries) and faculty of commerce, Cairo University.
FCES with the cooperation of RCSC (The Research and Commercial Science Center) encourages students to practice and apply what they learn through participating in activities related to the business areas that help them to develop and build the leadership and communication skills.
Such activities as:
• Student Union, where representative students are elected from each academic year to coordinate the activities of student group and trips.
• CAPS (Career Advising and Placement Service) where an employment fair is conducted including representatives from reputable business organizations, banks, and insurance companies that offer different job vacancies to graduates as well as training opportunities for the undergraduate students during the summer holiday.
• COMET (Conference Of Marketing, Economics and trade) which is the first student conference to be launched in faculty of commerce- Cairo University. COMET keens on providing its candidates with the practical and intellectual skills in different fields including stock market, auditing, marketing and other managerial and leadership fields.
• Many other activities did launched and managed by students related their studies.
